Mob MondayBy Grace Fletcher-Hackwood and Kevin Peel

Last week we launched an exciting new grassroots initiative which allows activists to join the campaign effort in key marginal constituencies and fight for our Labour candidates – all from the comfort of your own home.

Our #mobmonday campaign seemed to capture the imagination of the Labour Twitterati, with scores of activists buzzing about the opportunity to get involved in helping to secure a fourth term Labour Government, including high level promotion from @EdMilibandMP and @JohnPrescott!

Our first virtual camaigning session took place on Monday evening from 6-8pm and we had a dozen Labour activists from up and down the country logged on to the Virtual Phone Bank, making almost 300 phone calls for Bury North PPC Maryam Khan (@Maryam4BuryNth).

This was a phenomenal start to a campaign we dreamt up just a few days ago, but this week we want to do even better!

From 6-8pm tonight we want activists from all over the UK to come together online and use the Virtual Phone Bank at members.labour.org.uk/phone-bank to make calls for Twittering local candidate @stellacreasy in the seat of Walthamstow. You don’t have to do it for the whole time but you can make 10 contacts in half an hour and this will be a huge help to the local campaign.

It’s really easy to do and people are constantly telling us how surprised they were by how much fun they have doing it!

Get in touch with us at [email protected] tor Tweet us on @kevpeel or @msgracefh to let us know if you’re planning to take part and we’ll send you full instructions about accessing the Virtual Phone Bank, plus a crib sheet about the seat we’re going to be canvassing and some information about the candidate.

You can now also become a fan of #mobmonday on Facebook!

Happy Tweeting!
