* Trimdon Labour Club – a venue synonymous with Tony Blair – is set to close next month.

* “Public sector pensions must be fair and affordable” says John Hutton in the FT.

* David Miliband has followed in the steps of Ed Balls and launched a campaign against the VAT rise.
