Jowell, Johnson, Knight on life after power
By Alex Smith / @alexsmith1982
In this video, Alan Johnson, Tessa Jowell and Jim Knight talk about life after power. It’s really honest and quite fun in places – though there are also signs of deep nostalgia.
As well as offering an insight into the personalities of these three former ministers, this video raises again what David Miliband and Ed Balls in particular have referred to during the leadership debates – the problems with the all encompassing nature of frontline politics, especially for those with young families. What’s interesting about this video is how that dominance of politics in ministers’ lives has clearly left a hole – almost a yearning for something – now they’re out of government.
The BBC’s video isn’t yet perfect, so you may need to wait a few seconds, or even refresh the page, for it to load.
