Oona King has this evening praised her former opponent for London mayor, Ken Livingstone. SPeaking to BBC News, she said:
“Ken is a fantastically durable politician. He is stronger now than he was before the campaign.”
“I think Ken is battle heavy to take on Boris Johnson and defeat him and I’m happy to play a part in that.”
King was keen not to be drawn on whether she felt she was a better candidate though, saying:
“The thing about democracy is that if you lose you accept the result, so I really don’t want to pick over it.”
This morning we said that a unity moment was important. It hasn’t taken long, and King should be applauded for doing the media rounds today to make the Labour case.
