Unite chief “concerned about banning any groups”

Unite’s Len McCluskey, when pressed by the Guardian over Progress, says:

“I would be concerned about banning any groups. It is a dangerous route to go down. I fully understand the concerns that are being expressed and I would urge the party should take on board those concerns.”

    Well said Mr McCluskey. I am rapidly changing my view of you. I am a member of Unite.

     I think though the intention has always been to cause Prospect some ‘collateral damage’ rather than prescribe. Once all the careerists see that membership of the organisation is a hinderance to their ambitions it will begin to wane.

    Call me a cynic but I once remarked when shortlisting candidates in some selection process how there had been a rapid transformation in the list of organisations candidates were members of and in particular a discernible drop in membership of CND and a paralleled increase in the CSM. I guess Blair’s beliefs had nothing to do with this!
