    Here is a link to the full article which (towards the end) points out that many other media executives were also invited to the games including Alan Rusbridger of the Guardian. 

    It’s funny how articles like this often don’t include links, it’s almost as if you don’t want your readers to learn the full story!

      Though there is no indication that Rushbrider was invited to the same event. This is a shame – it would have been very nice to have seen the two them enjoying the event while sitting together.

      And why wasn’t Tom Watson invited? He clearly has a special interest in the media and has done much to improve journalistic practice, he at least deserves an empty seat allocation.

    Given that Mr Murdoch both saved the national newspapers by his inspired move to Wapping (Mr Johnson is a journalist as well as Mayor of London, of course) and that BSkyB has pumped vast sums into UK sport, it is entirely appropriate to invite him.

    Not everyone agrees with the self-important, self-righteous Mr Tom Watson MP.
