Nick Clegg says he’s sick of apologising – but what has he apologised for?

July 15, 2012 12:17 pm

The Independent today Nick Clegg telling the Social Liberal Forum Conference that:

“I have had it with apologising”

Which is odd, as I can’t remember Clegg apologising much.

Did he apologise for dismantling the NHS?

Or backing an economic policy that his party opposed before the election?

Did he apologise for betraying students by trebling tuition fees perhaps?

No.

Nick Clegg – a man who’s sick of apologising before he’s even started…

He must get on very well with Bob Diamond, in that case…

He’s probably sick of apologising to Cameron & Osborne for his Party not being quite as Tory as Clegg & Laws are.

I really do feel sorry for the Liberals third best in the country and second best in the Tories.

I agree with the banks on this one.

An interesting link Dave. It points to how many chancers, hustlers and spivs have been encouraged into the a market of what should have been government supplied services.

Here we have Eco-Actif run by Amanda Palmer-Roye in Sutton, Surrey servicing the disadvantaged in SE London. This operator is at times contracted to 3SC, which itself is contracted to A4e.

When you throw in the likes of the PFIs you begin to see that an awful lot our so called public sector costs are actually going into the pockets of those favoured by our political class. That favouring can be worth a great deal, just ask Emma Harrison about the 8.6 million she personally earned out it.

Some bubbles may have burst, but there’s still plenty of this purple* market money sloshing around.

    * Needed a new colour as gray and black didn’t quite fit. I’m using purple in honour of Sainsbury’s Progress.

** Should have been in reply to Dave’s comment below.

    Why we love Woolwich

Woolwich is an amazing place. It’s where the Labour party was founded as a mass membership organization. The Woolwich Provident was one of Britain’s first building societies. The Royal Arsenal Coop one of our first cooperative societies. Woolwich had the second Polytechnic in the country, created with the aim of providing education for working adults. Woolwich is my nearest big town centre, where I shop and go to meet friends. In the last few days, for many people, its name [...]

Technology isn’t just something for geeks to worry about

If you Google ‘Ed Miliband,’ you quickly get the old stuff about him being a bit of geek. His appearance at Google’s big Tent on Wednesday almost begged the headline “Geek Goes Home”. But that assumes technology is just something for geeks to worry about, and that Ed is a techie. Neither are true. What we saw on Wednesday was a leader with the courage to tell Google straight that it should live up to its founding principles on the [...]

Woolwich: The British people – and our politicians – have risen to the occasion

“We want to start a war” – Woolwich attacker “right now it is only you versus many people, you are going to lose” - Ingrid Loyau-Kennett Only 24 hours ago, news began to trickle through about a barbarous crime, committed on the streets of our capital city, in broad daylight. It seems that the murderers who attacked and brutally murdered a soldier felt they were acting in a way endorsed by their religious beliefs and their god. But to try and [...]
