The Mirror reports today that:
“William Hague claimed hundreds of pounds on expenses to fund a protest meeting – to fight his own Government’s NHS reforms. The Cabinet minister was accused of hypocrisy for campaigning against hated health service cuts in his constituency, while backing the Coalition’s changes in Westminster.”
Hague spent over £300 on the meeting, including hiring a venue and advertising the meeting in his local paper. The Mirror reports that he voiced “acute concern” and said “I will take all the views expressed to the Health Secretary, my colleague Jeremy Hunt. I will make sure what is discussed goes to the very top.”
Of course, as a senior Cabinet Minister, Hague has voted in favour of every single one of the government’s NHS changes…
