Speaking to Labour MEPs in Brussels today, Ed Miliband urged Lib Dems to “oppose this budget” – ahead of probable emergency spending cuts and tax rises tomorrow. Ed said:
“I say to the Lib-Dems very clearly that they should exercise their consciences and be willing to oppose this Budget, on issues such as VAT and fairness.
“If not, they will be massively betraying their people and they have a real duty to their people who, in Europe and in Britain will expect them to judge this Budget on what it does , and not simply to go along with it”.
This follows on from David Miliband attacking Nick Clegg as the “dumb waiter” of government, and suggests we will be seeing alot more of direct attacks on the Lib Dems in a bid to win their supporters should either of the Miliband brothers become Labour party leader.
