London Labour Party has opened the panel for potential Labour candidates for the London Assembly elections next year, which run alongside the mayoral contest. Candidates will be selected in March and April this year for vacant constituency and List positions. Labour currently holds 6 of the 14 constituency seats on the London Assembly, and 2 of the 11 list places, but will be expecting to strengthen their position in the capital after a string of excellent results in borough elections last year.
The constituency seats that are currently non Labour held, and will be up for selection, are:
Constituency | Current assembly member |
Party |
Barnet and Camden | Brian Coleman | Conservative |
Bexley and Bromley | James Cleverly | Conservative |
Croydon and Sutton | Stephen O’Connell | Conservative |
Ealing and Hillingdon | Richard Barnes | Conservative |
Havering and Redbridge | Roger Evans | Conservative |
Merton and Wandsworth | Richard Tracey | Conservative |
South West | Tony Arbour | Conservative |
West Central | Kit Malthouse | Conservative |
