Earlier today on Sky News, Ed Balls noted that Andy Coulson was hired by Cameron on a reccomendation from George Osborne. Osborne clearly played a significant role in Coulson’s time working for both the Tory party, and in No.10, as when Coulson tried to resign in mid-January (just before he actually did resign), the Mail reported that:
“the Prime Minister and Chancellor George Osborne refused to accept his resignation and offered him total support in his battle to clear his name.”
David Cameron is rightly coming under pressure today to explain why he decided to hire Andy Coulson when there were questions over his conduct. But if he was hired on Osborne’s advice, doesn’t the chancellor have questions to answer too?
