With just a few weeks left until the Corby by-election, the Tories probably could have done without the following intervention from Louise Mensch’s husband Peter in the Sunday Times:
“Then there was Louise’s belief that she was only going to be an MP for three more years. She thought — and I wasn’t going to argue with her — that she’d get killed in the next election.”
Polling day in Corby is November
15th…
Update: Mensch has been tweeting about the article today. She says the assertion made by her husband is “not at all true”, and perhaps most interestingly:
“Can honestly say I had no fear whatsoever of defeat at next election since had already decided not to stand again.”
