BA Chief Willie Walsh (no friend of the labour movement) has criticised the government’s cuts agenda, and said that Osborne has no agenda for growth. The Times reports him as saying:
“When I look at what I’ve done to restructure my business, I’ve been very clear — you can’t downsize a business to profitability. You can downsize to minimise losses, but you’ve got to pursue growth…I don’t see an agenda for growth.”
Or to put it another way, you can’t cut your way out of recession..
