A rather interesting selection meeting in South Shields tonight as local councillor Emma Lewell-Buck has been selected to contest the upcoming by-election. Tonight was not without controversy though as fellow local councillor Mark Walsh – widely considered a favourite for the selection – withdrew at the last minute. Here’s a brief profile of Emma:
Cllr Emma Lewell-Buck is a Social worker and local councillor for Primrose Ward. She’s a graduate of Northumbria University (studying in Politics and Media Studies) and was first elected to South Tyneside Council in 2004.
Congratulations to Emma, and commiserations to the other shortlisted candidates.
