Back in 2010 during his now infamous “Spending Review”, George Osborne said:
“There will be a real increase in the money for schools, not just next year or the year after…but for the next four years.”
The government made a big play of this – and it was one of the headline measures to come out of the Spending Review. Except it didn’t happen. A civil service report leaked to the Independent says:
“Schools are subject to a real-terms cut in their funding because the rate of inflation is currently higher than forecast at the time of the Spending Review.”
Another broken promise – and another area of society that’s a victim of Osborne’s botched handling of the economy…
