In a speech this evening, Gordon Brown has confirmed that he’s stepping down as an MP at the next election. The former Chancellor and Prime Minister has served as an MP for over 30 years (32 by election day next year).
Speaking in his constituency, Brown left elected politics by saying “Thank you for the chance to serve, thank you all very much.”
