Ed Miliband has reacted to new findings by the King’s Fund that describe the Government’s NHS reform as “damaging” by demanding David Cameron apologises for his handling of the health service.
The Labour leader accuses Cameron of breaking his promise that there would be no top-down reorganisation of the NHS and that the blame for an increase in waiting times lies firmly with the Prime Minister.
On the research, which was published today, Miliband said:
“David Cameron promised there would be no top down reorganisation of the NHS and he broke that promise.
“Today the independent King’s Fund says that reorganisation has been disastrous for our NHS and damaged patient care.
“So now we know – every time patients wait longer for test results, longer in A&E and longer for an operation the responsibility goes directly to David Cameron’s door.
“He today should personally apologise to the British people for betraying their trust, letting them down and damaging our National Health Service.”
