A new video being pushed out by Labour today highlights the difference between David Cameron and Ed Miliband on the issue of zero-hours contracts. It uses clips of the two leaders from last week’s ‘Battle for Number 10’ programme, including Cameron admitting that he could not live on a contract without set hours.
It finishes with Miliband making his case for a crackdown on zero-hours contracts, which has been reaffirmed with a tighter policy again today, and receiving applause from the audience:
“The Prime Minister said earlier that he couldn’t live on a zero-hours contract – well I couldn’t either, but let’s do something about it.
“Let’s turn this country into one where if you work month after month, year after year, you don’t end up on a zero-hours contract, but you have a right to a regular contract. That is just one of the changes I would make. We can do a lot better than this, we’re a great country.”
