Australian PM asked if her partner is gay by radio host – simply because he’s a hairdresser

The Australian election is getting really unpleasant. Labor leader and PM Julia Gillard has faced some pretty vile sexist attacks already in the campaign, but now things have escalated, with a radio host asking the PM if her partner is gay – simply because he’s a hairdresser.

The video is below, but before you get too smug and think this wouldn’t happen in the UK, remember Gordon Brown was questioned by Andrew Marr about whether or not he was taking prescription drugs…
