* Labour PPC for Leeds West Rachel Reeves says the budget made the right judgement between frtonline services and halving the deficit.

* The Mirror says the budget will “rightly hammer the super rich and get Labour back into power”.

* The Telegraph have called it a “raid on the middle class”.

* While the Sun says Darling “screwed more people than JT, Ashley and Tiger.”

* The Times says Darling spoke for an hour but “managed to say almost nothing”.
