Tory MP says Cameron has “utterly let down” his constituents

Tory MP Nick de Bois has accused famous phoney David Cameron of having “utterly let down” his constituents over a hospital closure. Back in 2007, a fresh-faced Tory leader was photographed campaigning to save Chase Farm Hospital. Here he is with de Bois:

He even posed with fellow Tory MP – and geography whizz– David Burrowes, holding this poster:

In late 2013, both the A&E and maternity services at Chase Farm were closed. So much for no cuts and no closures…

De bois – who is facing a tough fight to hold on in Enfield North against former Labour MP Joan Ryan – was scathing about Cameron on Radio 5 this morning. Here’s the transcript:

Interviewer: You campaigned in the last election on the basis that you would keep open the maternity unit and A&E services here and that hasn’t happened?

de Bois: I think we should be very clear about this and people in Enfield will know this, that in 2008 the Labour government then made the decision – Joan Ryan was a member of that government – to downgrade the hospital. Then along comes my party leader and he said “this won’t happen”, and of course that utterly let down the constituents in my party as well.

There are 9 days until the election, and this Tory MP thinks his leader has let his constituents down. Awkward…
