Responding to Chris Huhne’s speech to Lib Dem conference, Ed Miliband said that Huhne had “let people down” over his claims that this government would be the greenest government ever:
“Chris Huhne has let down those who believed the coalition’s pledge to be the greenest government ever. No money for the green investment bank, no upgrade of the ports that are so vital for our offshore wind industry, no commitment to clean energy cashback for electricty or heat. And no plan to tackle fuel poverty.”
“Going green involves tough choices and he has ducked them all, including pandering to his party on nuclear power when the industry needs certainty to invest.”
“You can’t be the greenest government ever by turning your back on Britain’s green industry. When will he realise it’s his job to stand up to the Conservatives and fight for these projects?”
