Labour MP recovering after kidney transplant

Labour MP Khalid Mahmood is recovering in Queen Elizbeth hospital in Birmingham after a kidney transplant operation yesterday. The Perry Bar MP was hospitalised with kidney failure in 2008 and had been on dialysis before the operation. The Birmingham Mail reports:

“Perry Barr MP Khalid Mahmood underwent the surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Edgbaston yesterday (Jan 21). His Labour colleague Coun Zafar Iqbal announced that the operation had gone well and that Mr Mahmood was comfortable. He said the 52-year-old was likely to be recovering in hospital for the next ten days and that only close family were allowed to visit.”

Everyone at LabourList would like to wish Mahmood a swift recovery.
