Teresa Pearce has been selected by the Erith and Thamesmead Labour Party to contest the next general election in that constituency.
Georgia Gould, who ran a committed and impressive campaign for the selection, came third.
Meanwhile, Gordon Brown has signalled that Labour MPs embroiled in the expenses scandal will be deselected.
