The news agenda for the day was meant to be all about the Queen’s Speech, but the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson – a lifelong Labour supporter – has stolen Cameron’s limelight. So we thought it might be worth reminding people of a couple of quotes from Britain’s greatest ever football manager:
“Have Labour been perfect? Of course not. Have there been things I disagreed with? Yes, from time to time. But I know where the Labour Party’s heart is and it is in the right place.”
“I believe Labour has always been the party of the working man and always will be. I believe the Tories have always been about looking after their own rich types and always will be.”
We’re sure he’ll still be supportive of both his football and political teams in his retirement…
