Yesterday David Cameron announced that he may not take part in the upcoming TV debates – despite having repeatedly praised them in the past. Unsurprisingly the Labour leadership still want the debates to go ahead, and want the broadcasters to consider giving the PM the “empty-chair” treatment. A Labour source told the Times Red Box this morning that:
“Broadcasters decide who to invite to debates and broadcasters can decide to hold them even if all those they invite do not turn up.”
“We will ask them to consider empty-chairing Cameron.”
