Please forward this message to your mother, your grandmother, and every other mother or special woman you know….
Mothers are very special…
They have a special bond, a special love and a special responsibility…
That is why your Labour Members of the European Parliament have worked hard to help mothers everywhere – in Britain, in Europe and beyond.
Mothers are the most likely people to work part time or as temporary agency staff. Labour MEPs have secured equal employment rights for these workers, such as guaranteed 4 weeks paid leave, paid parental leave, and anti-discrimination laws.
Mothers want their children to be safe and healthy. Labour MEPs have helped to develop laws to tighten internet safety, to control chemicals in toys and additives in food, and have supported the start of a Europe-wide missing children alert system.
Mothers want their children to have a bright future. Labour MEPs have been at the forefront of developing ambitious targets for carbon emission reduction and targets for energy production by renewables, to help protect future generations from the threat of climate change.
Mothers want ALL families to have the healthcare they need. Labour MEPs are campaigning for better medical care in developing countries to end preventable deaths that occur from complications in pregnancy and childbirth.
That is the difference having Labour MEPs in Europe makes.
Vote Labour for Europe in the European Elections on 4th June 2009.
And have a Happy Mother’s Day!
