Dudley North Tories are in total turmoil after the sacking of their candidate John Perry.
Perry, a well-respected local councilor representing the constituency’s Sedgley ward, was forced out shortly after his partner, Kerry-Lea Jiggins, was sacked as the party’s agent for the Borough, which includes the Stourbridge, Halesowen and Dudley South, all of which are being targeted by the Tories.
When Councillor Perry and Ms Jiggins launched a case for wrongful dismissal, Perry was forced to stand down as the candidate.
The infighting appears to have plunged the local association and its campaign into disarray with two senior local Tories – the deputy leader of the Council, Anne Millward, and Councillor Les Jones who contested Halesowen and Rowley at the last election – rumoured to have both declined invitations to become the replacement candidate.
