From LabourList
One of LabourList’s most valuable resources is our daily digest of all the news and views from the papers and blogosphere, as well as exclusive content and our Comment of the Week competition. Because it’s Easter Monday, today’s edition is a little different from the usual format.
You can subscribe to our free updates by entering your email address at the top right of the site.
COMMENT OF THE DAY
“I was disappointed by all of this because the other day when I read this article – A lack of hostility – I thought the site was finding its own voice, and creating debate. I expect that the next 10 days or so will still make for painful reading in the papers. But I truly hope that this site does become a home for ideas and debate, instead of engaging with the gutter blogging of Guido.”
Steven Nash, on Ideas, not smears – The Future of LabourList.
Dear LabourLister,
As you might imagine, LabourList is busy today with people debating not only the weekend’s main story, but also the value of our site and its role in the political blogosphere.
Our readers are not alone in this candour. Since day one, we have been assessing and reassessing the direction of LabourList and the issues we should be tackling. That will always be an ongoing process.
It’s important at times like these to remember why we, at the grassroots, are involved in the Labour movement and why we champion the causes we do. So our commitment to providing an open, issues-based site remains unshaken and unshakable. LabourList can only find new energy and improve from here.
Indeed, this is probably best summed up by an email we received from one of our readers today, which says:
“I have been left despondent yet fired up. I wanted to try and do something different, so I made a little video for anyone and all to stick on their blog.”
Do visit the site and check out the video.
Other posts today include:
An apology from our editor Derek Draper.
An energising post by Anne Fairweather on internet campaigning in the Euro elections.
Details of an inspiring campaign from young activist Gabe Trodd.
Best,
The LabourList team.
