In an article in today’s Guardian, Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg has called for this summer’s Parliamentary recess to be replaced by a 100 day period of action on constitutional reform and a “total reinvention of British politics”.
Clegg opens with a rebuke of David Cameron’s article in the same newspaper earlier in the week:
“Warm words, rhetoric and consideration are not enough; indeed, they are a guarantee that little will happen. David Cameron’s proposals are a masterful example of well-judged rhetoric free of substance and conviction”.
But the ground is swelling; this is Labour’s opportunity to lead again on an issue fundamental to our politics.
