Clegg says no summer holidays until the rot is treated and we have “total reinvention”

In an article in today’s Guardian, Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg has called for this summer’s Parliamentary recess to be replaced by a 100 day period of action on constitutional reform and a “total reinvention of British politics”.

Clegg opens with a rebuke of David Cameron’s article in the same newspaper earlier in the week:

“Warm words, rhetoric and consideration are not enough; indeed, they are a ­guarantee that little will happen. David Cameron’s proposals are a masterful example of well-judged rhetoric free of substance and conviction”.

But the ground is swelling; this is Labour’s opportunity to lead again on an issue fundamental to our politics.
