Here’s the message from Alastair Campbell and the team over at Go Fourth regarding the Norwich North by-election in two weeks time:
Dear Go Fourth,
Only one item on the do list this time – and that is give whatever help you can to Labour in the Norwich North by-election. Polling day is 23 July. Every activist will count.
Setting aside the circumstances of the by-election, which came out of the whole MP expenses debacle, and which have aroused pretty strong opinions locally, it would be dreadful if the Tories got a win they don’t deserve in Norwich. We can hold the seat if we get out there and work for it. We, as Go Fourth, need to get stuck in and help.
Labour has an excellent candidate in Chris Ostrowski. You can read more about him and sign up to the Facebook group here:

Some of you will be within travelling distance of Norwich. Here’s a link to the Norwich Labour website, with details of how to get in touch with the local party to get involved in the campaign:

For those who can’t travel, don’t forget you can also use Labour’s virtual phonebank to do some phone canvassing – see:
Take a look at this BBC Look East coverage setting out how the by-election is being seen locally:
The top message from Dave Cameron’s Tories in this by-election seems to be that they will “crack down on crime and antisocial behaviour”. How they plan to do this whilst cutting police numbers is a mystery. Oh wait, Shadow Home Secretary Chris Grayling went to Norwich the other day and said: “We need a 21st-century equivalent of a clip round the ear.” So now, at last, we have a Tory policy, in the form of some kind of futuristic corporal punishment.
I think we all know the Tories would give the country much, much worse than a clip round the ear if they got back in.
So let’s get behind Labour’s Chris Ostrowski and help keep Norwich North Labour.
Keep Going Fourth,
Alastair.
