Unions Together are running a good positive campaign at the moment, asking members to vote for their favourite Labour achievement of the last thirteen years.
Helen Symons, a committed Labour and union activist has written to people today, saying:
“Politics can sometimes seem like a petty game. And yet, over the last decade, we’ve watched Labour rise above it and achieve real change in the lives of working people. Britain has changed for the better under Labour leadership over the past 13 years. These changes have had a tremendous impact on our daily lives.
Labour has made society better and fairer in so many ways: rebuilding crumbling schools, keeping interest rates low, delivering equality for lesbian and gay people, seeing us through the global financial crisis, establishing the winter fuel allowance, and so much more.
Sometimes it’s easy to take these things for granted – but without these changes, life would be much harder for so many. We deserve a government that’s on our side. By voting for your favourite Labour achievement, you can help to celebrate the changes we have seen, and also make it clear that you want a fairer Britain in the future too.
The challenges Britain faces are great. We can’t afford to turn back the clock – we need a government that will continue to make Britain a fairer place for us all.”
Wise words. Vote for your favourite Labour achievement here, and leave comments below to let us know what you chose.
