The Education Maintenance Allowance provides up to £30 a week during term time for 16, 17 and 18 year olds studying in England. 55% of those in receipt of the EMA would have dropped out of college if it were not for this support. But with horse-trading as part of a hung parliament this may be under threat. The Campaign to Save EMAs have produced this video showing just how crucial this programme is for students:
