There was an interesting line in the Independent this morning, which said :
“Ed Miliband is planning a new year shake-up of his internal party structure…the restructuring will include moving Labour’s headquarters, currently half a mile from the House of Commons, closer to Parliament.”
LabourList understands that there are plans to move party HQ away from its current Victoria Street home in the coming months. The move is expected to take place in around six months time, although final details of the move are yet to be confirmed.
However, the Independent also claims that Miliband is considering introducing a directly elected party chair. That seems highly unlikely so soon after Refounding Labour, when the party decided not to make such a change. We understand that there are no plans to introduce a directly elected chair at present, and that’s unlikely to change in forseeable future.
