Cheeky Ken pledge puts part-time Mayor on the spot

Ken Livingstone has signed a pledge promising to be a one job, full-time Mayor of London – and at the first hustings on the contest, offered Boris Johnson the opportunity to sign it too. Johnson of course has a £250,000 a year column with The Telegraph – a salary he once described as “Chickenfeed”.

The pledge states:

One job and one job only – a full-time Mayor

The job of Mayor of London is one of the most important in British public life, a full-time job that requires the full attention of whoever holds that post.

If I am elected Mayor, I pledge that I will be a full-time Mayor.

I will have no other jobs or paid work for the entire four years of my Mayoralty.

Signed
Ken Livingstone

We’ll let you know if Boris signs it, but we won’t be counting on it…
