Reacting to the appointment of Tony Hall as the BBC’s new Director General, Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport Harriet Harman said:
“Tony Hall is an excellent choice as the new Director-General of the BBC, with experience that includes head of news at the BBC and leadership of the Royal Opera House, one of our great cultural institutions.
“He is the right person to bring stability to the BBC in these difficult times and I look forward to working with him.”
