Following news last week that organisations as diverse as LabourList and the British Heart Foundation could get caught up in David Cameron’s lobbying bill. Labour have attacked the bill.
Angela Eagle MP, Labour’s Shadow Leader of the House, said:
“David Cameron’s Lobbying Bill is a complete mess. It is rushed, incoherent and looks likely to make things worse not better.
The proposals on lobbying are so narrow that they are laughable, and the plans to gag charities with onerous regulations amount to an attack on civil society in the run up to an election.
But what it is above all else is a wasted opportunity to reform our politics. Only David Cameron would think a lobbying bill that has no effect on Lynton Crosby would show the British people that they want to clean up politics.”
