Last night Harriet Harman put out a statement taking on the Daily Mail over their repeated attempts to tie her work at the NCCL to paedophile group PIE. Harman subsequently appeared on Newsnight to be grilled on the allegations. This morning, an aide to Harman told the BBC’s James Landale that Harman “regrets” the NCCL’s links with PIE:
“Of course she regrets any organisation’s involvement with them, including the National Council for Civil Liberties. But they were immaterial to her work.
“She does not regret joining the NCCL. By the time she arrived they were very much under the radar and her work focused on other things, such as marches, apartheid and trade unions.”
