Tory MP’s £5,000 competition prize goes to prominent Conservative member

It’s emerged that a competition promoted and run by Tory MP (and LabourList favourite) Amber Rudd – has awarded a £5,000 competition prize to a prominent member of the Conservative party.

The competition called the ‘Tomorrow’s Business Builders Womens Award‘ is aimed at helping local entrepreneurs with their own businesses. It was launched in 2011 by Rudd and backed by Conservative Peer Baroness Steadman-Scott.

The prize money is a very helpful £5,000 and went to Rebecca and Leonie Nolan, who own a local dog grooming parlour.

But, there’s a slight twist to this tale; in the 2012 local elections Leonie Nolan stood to be a Conservative party councillor in Central Leonards ward and Rebecca Nolan has declared herself as an open fan of the Conservative MP, telling the Financial Times (£) last year “a lot of people support Amber, she is a good MP”.

Clearly they were just the most deserving candidates…
