A Tory Peer told an event this morning that “poor people don’t know how to cook”. Baroness Jenkin made the comment at the launch of the report Feeding Britain, which comes from the All-Party Parliamentary Inquiry into Hunger in the United Kingdom – of which she is a member.
Jenkin appeared to suggest that poor people being unable to cook is one of the reasons they are going hungry.

Jenkin later sought to qualify her remark, by saying that she was talking about a lack of cooking skills – but it looks dangerously like blaming the poor for their own hunger…
