Harriet Yeo – a former Chair of Labour’s NEC and PCC candidate – has been named as Ukip’s candidate in Folkestone and Hythe after the expulsion of Janice Atkinson MEP over expenses allegations.
The Kippers will be keen to talk about their “Labour defector”. But lets get the facts straight about Yeo’s departure from the Labour Party.
As we reported last month, Harriet Yeo was removed as Labour Group Leader of Ashford Council after being accused of non-attendance at council meetings and a failure undertake council casework, which make her comments that “the Labour Party ignore us” sound more than a bit rich.
A week later she was deselected as a candidate for the 2015 local elections – and left the Labour Party the next day.
We’re sure her decision to become a UKIP candidate is all about principle though, and nothing at all to do with being removed from her council role by the Labour Party…
