Yvette Cooper, one the the four leadership contenders to have announced they’re standing, has said that she’s established a network of organisers and volunteers in every region of the country.
A spokesperson for Cooper has said that aim is for them to engage with people across the country. This comes after she announced that her campaign will be directed by Sheila Murphy and co-chaired by Vernon Coaker and Shabana Mahmood.
The campaign have also said that as Burnham has announced, they are not receiving any money from unions. They have also said there isn’t one person funding it but instead a variety of individuals and organisations.
The main focus of Cooper’s campaign is on reaching out to members, supporters and non-Labour voters – she is not as interested, they say, in winning over the lobby. Consequently her is aim to spend time outside of Westminster over the following months.
Cooper’s message is that as she was born in Inverness, raised in Hampshire and represents a constituency in Yorkshire she believes she can reach out to all areas of the country.
