Jim Murphy, Labour’s shadow defence secretary, has today launched a site to celebrate the role of the armed forces. Murphy has collected a series of videos from Labour MPs, each sending their goodwill messages to British troops abroad. Murphy will be posting one of these videos a day on his site, the first of which is his own video:
Speaking today, Murphy encouraged those with Labour’s passion for the forces to record their own videos:
“I want this site to be a place where people discuss politics in the UK and beyond and where people celebrate the dedication and bravery of our Armed Forces.”
“If you share Labour’s passion for our Forces you can offer a message of support to our brave troops by joining WinkBall’s ‘Faces for Forces’ campaign. Thousands of men and women will be miles from their loved ones this Christmas and their commitment should be in all our thoughts and prayers.”
“Labour achieved a huge amount in government for our Forces, but we must use this period to build on the best of our record and think afresh. My Shadow Ministerial team and I will be working on a new, long-term defence and security policy. I want to do so by using the expertise and passion I know exists in the Labour movement and our country.”
You can see all of the videos – and record your own – here
