Party conferences in 2016 and 2018 will both be held in Liverpool

6th March, 2013 3:01 pm

Labour Party conference will be returning to Liverpool in 2016 and 2018, it has been announced today. That means the venues for the next few years will be:

2013 – Brighton

2014 – Manchester

2015 – Brighton

2016 – Liverpool

2017 – TBC

2018 – Liverpool

Announcing the venues, General Secretary Iain McNicol said:

“We are delighted to be able to confirm that we will be holding the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool in 2016 and 2018.

“Liverpool is one of our great British cities and we had a wonderful conference there in 2011. ACC Liverpool is a first class venue for conference and we look forward to returning to the city.”

    Great move, great city.

      Crap football teams though.

You obviously reject Bill Shankley’s observation that there are 2 great football teams in Liverpool: Liverpool and Liverpool reserves.

But the real question is where will we hold the karaoke!

Yes. That will probably be the only event that the particpants will enjoy. The rest of the time they will be too scared to say anything remotely socialist for fear of upsetting the tabloid press, Strivers, and Mr and Mrs Middle England.
Still no word about the Hammond proposal for further welfare cuts to pay for defence from anybody at the top of Labour. They come over as weak as water.

Could I ask the loyalist who voted this down whether or not he thinks that the public have a right to know:

        1) Does Labour agree with Hammond’s proposal

        2) Does Labour disagree with Hammond’s proposal
        or

        3) Don’t know

If the answer is 2 why is it that Labour does’nt have the courage to say so clearly and plainly?

I think it would be politically expedient to hold one in Scotland.

Ed Miliband says “I’m not doing deals with the SNP”

Ed Miliband was on Andrew Marr this morning – and he went further than he’s gone before on ruling out a a Labour/SNP deal. Miliband said: “I’m not doing deals with the SNP” And when pressed specifically on “confidence and supply”, Ed Miliband ruled that out too. Labour plans to cap rents to give “Generation Rent” a more secure future

Ed Miliband has announced plans to cap private sector rents as part of a package of plans to help those living in the expanding private rented sector. The plans are pretty similar to those unveiled before last year’s European and Local elections (which I praised at the time). They’re also similar to the rent pledges pushed by Shadow Housing Minister Emma Reynolds back in February (which may suggest that the media gives a disproportionate amount of coverage to policies announced by party […]

Tory Minister Eric Pickles compares Labour’s rent plans to bombing of cities

The Tories spent most of Friday falsely accusing Ed Miliband of saying something that he clearly didn’t saw over Cameron and Libya. And yet this evening one of their own Cabinet ministers has done something far worse of their own free will. Eric Pickles has compared Labour’s plans to make the private rented sector more affordable to the “bombing” of cities: Rent control appears to be the most efficient technique presently known to destroy a city except for bombing http://t.co/RYjvDO2MhD […]
