Labour blogger addresses conference

Labour blogger Luke Akehurst gave conference a great account of his treatment on the NHS after discovering he had a rare neurological condition, which means he cannot walk.

He praised the staff at the Homerton Hospital and the Royal Neurological Hospital, including the cleaners, drivers and the rest of the staff who make a hospital. He said he felt sorry for anyone in a country without an NHS, where people get asked for a credit card number rather than a national insurance number.

He called on conference to get out onto the doorsteps and rebut the lies of Daniel Hannan and the rest of the Tories. Health Secretary Andy Burnham told conference that the experience of people in the NHS is far more eloquent than the politicians.
