To restore faith in the political process after the expenses outrage we must not now be convinced that Parliament is populated solely by penny-pinching paragons of greed. I refuse to believe that every Member of Parliament is there for personal financial gain. There are still some good people at Westminster. For me, the incredulity and uncompromising stance of John Mann MP has been a refreshing antidote to the po-faced murmurings of the many. On expenses, he said:
“To be honest, Parliament needs to get real. There are people there who’re not in the real world.”

Of course, if it turns out that John has been ‘flipping’ a portfolio of properties at my expense, I’ll ask him personally for my money back.
