Who cares?

BBCBy Keir Stitt

It’s inevitable that anybody who pays attention to political goings on, Westminster Village or beyond, is stunned about the way that Speaker Martin has been forced to resign.

Before we start to get too carried away, and think that the whole world revolves around Westminster Village. Take a look at the most read stories on the BBC News website at 7:50pm on Thursday.

1. People care about heat waves – we’re British so any gap in the rain is newsworthy.

2. A 47 million year old Lemur could be a close relative of many parliamentarians, but at least Lemur’s haven’t been calming any expenses.

3. If we want to draw a line underneath the expenses affair, we could get Aberdeen City Council to draw a zigzagged line but they might be too late.

4. But who cares about parliament ripping up hundreds of years of convention and sacking the speaker, boring.

Just goes to show that there are some real people out there. Perhaps we’re the ones who shouldn’t take the papers so sersiously.
