Labour has selected Liverpool, Manchester and Bournemouth as the host cities for its annual conferences from 2011-2014.
The decision provides for a broadening of the Labour party’s conference venues. After being the first political party to hold its conference in Manchester, Labour will break new ground when its Annual Conference visits Liverpool in 2011.
I could mean millions of pounds for the regions’ economies. Labour’s 2006 Manchester Conference generated over £15m of economic benefit for the region.
Ray Collins, Labour Party General Secretary, said:
“Bournemouth, Liverpool, and Manchester provide state-of-the-art venues for Labour Ministers and party members to shape Labour’s solutions to the challenges that Britain faces. Labour broke new ground when we held conference in Manchester in 2006 and in 2011 we will be the first party to visit Liverpool. New host cities provide us with the opportunity to broaden potential conference venues and the people that attend. Listening to the people has always been at the heart of Labour Party conference and we are delighted to be visiting these cities. “
The venues for the next few years are below:
2009 Brighton, Brighton Centre
2010 Manchester, Manchester Central
2011 Liverpool, Echo Arena and the BT Convention Centre
2012 Manchester, Manchester Central
2013 Bournemouth, Bournemouth International Centre and the Pavillion
2014 Manchester, Manchester Central
