I’ve just watched David Cameron’s conference speech. It was impressive, but people will remember when the Conservatives were last in power.
This conference was the Conservatives’ last chance to prove to the British people that they were credible to be in Government and they failed.
Cameron spoke of “steady erosion of responsibility” while not committing his party to the responsibility of helping others.
Cameron spoke of having to accept that some problems have no answers: I believe there are always answers to people’s problems and that people who deserve help should receive it.
He spoke of insuring dignity and security for older people, while under the Conservatives poor older people died in their own homes due to the cold. Labour winter fuel payments have stopped this from happening.
Cameron praised the NHS as free at the point of use while his MEPs deride it internationally. Cameron wants the NHS to be run by doctors who did not want to extend their surgery times for the people they care for.
He attacked what he sees as big government and said that government does not have all the answers. I agree with him. But then throughout his speech he blames the Government for all of society’s ills.
He attacked targets when most people in my local hospital have told me that such targets have driven up quality of service.
Cameron was insincere and this Conservative Party has not changed and they have showing their true colours.
Labour and I will fight these Tories and fight to win.
