“Sopel on Sunday” today features TV interviews with Alistair Darling, Alan Johnson, Harriet Harman and Sir Ian Blair.
Harman says:
“The spouses of MPs that I know who work for their husband or wife do an incredibly good job and work very hard and are much appreciated by their constituents. But if Sir Christopher Kelly recommends that MPs shouldn’t be able to employ family members in the future, firstly I don’t think there should be any shadow cast over the existing spouses, and secondly it would be fair not to sack existing spouses. This should be for the future.”
In an interesting exchange with Sky’s Adam Boulton, Alan Johnson says:
“This is not about the acceptance or rejection of their advice. It’s about how the government’s leading scientific advisor on drugs conducts himself…”
